Marcello Barison is Collegiate Assistant Professor and Harper-Schmidt Fellow at The University of Chicago, where he teaches Philosophical Perspectives. His teaching activity and theoretical researches have been implemented with several important publications, such as the editing of the Italian version of Paul Klee’s collected writings on art (Form- und Gestaltungslehre), a monograph on the work of Mark Rothko (Sulla soglia del nulla. Mark Rothko: l’immagine oltre lo spazio; the book is being translated into Spanish for the Argentine publishing house Mardulce) and a volume about Heidegger’s undestanding of the work of art.
He regards practical work as an essential counterpoint for his aesthetical inquiries, and that is the reason why he has always been performing a consistent pictorial activity as well. The development of his artistic route has drawn the attention and the firm support of the well known art critic Marco Vallora.
He exhibited his works at the 2011 Venice Biennale (The Italian Pavillion, Turin).
Many of his paintings are in private collections in Italy, France and the United States.
The promotion of his work in the Italian market is curated by the Gallery Stanislao De Bonis based in Reggio Emilia and the Ninni Esposito Art Gallery in Bari.
